NEW Cold Water SS Low Profile Line Counter by Okuma
Okuma has had one of the most popular trolling reels in the salmon market for several years with the Cold Water Low Profile Line Counter. And now they have introduced their saltwater version called the Cold Water SS.
Cold Water
Okuma introduced the Cold Water round line counters about 5 years ago. These are well built, graphite line counter reels with a great reputation and really good looks out on the water. Several years ago they introduced the Low Profile Baitcast version of the Cold Water Line Counter. That reel put out an amazing 25 pounds of pure Salmon stopping drag. And now, the SS!
Stainless Steel
The brand new Okuma Cold Water SS was just introduced at the Puyallup Sportsman’s Show up in Puyallup Washington making a splash amongst die hard fisherman.
This new SS version has a dark and fierce look that will complement any rod out there. The dark grey body along with black and silver features make this one sexy reel.
It may be somewhat obvious, but the SS stands for Stainless Steel. The Cold Water SS features a stainless steel main gear, pinion gear, drive shaft and spool shaft. These stainless steel components deliver an internal foundation of unrelenting strength and corrosion resistance.

Features
The Cold Water SS is built on the exact same platform as the standard Cold Water Low Profile that you have come to know and love. That includes an aluminum cranking side, side plate, machined aluminum two tone spool, and multi-disc high output Carbonite drag system putting out over 25 pounds of drag.
The Cold Water SS features the same great mechanical line counter that measures in feet. It also contains Okuma’s Clear View Technology which is their anti-fogging window with an air portal on the side.
And how about that capacity? The deep cut machined aluminum spool has mega capacity holding 230 yards of 14lb mono or 230 yards of 50lb braided line. Throw some top shot on there and you are good to go.
Another key feature of the Cold Water SS is that it has Okuma’s CRC or Corrosion Resistance Coating process on the inside. This is a process that bathes all of the internal parts in Corrosion X giving this reel the ultimate leg up on those salt water battles.
Left and Right Hand Retrieve
Something to note on the Cold Water SS reels is that they come in both left and right hand retrieve. This is a great option to cover all of your options when out on the water.
Both the left and right hand retrieve feature a 5.4:1 gear ratio. With that speed, you will be bringing in roughly 26 inches of line per turn of the handle.
