Orange Bread – Delicious and Easy Recipe
Orange Bread?
Coming up on the end of the orange season, I always have an abundance of extra oranges and what better way to use them than some delicious orange bread. As the weather starts to heat up, the oranges are falling off the tree more and more. Might as well use them up and not let those on the tree go to waste.
One way I came up with to utilize these left over oranges is to make a delicious and easy orange bread. Orange Bread?, you may say. Yes! This stuff is delicious.
This very easy to make recipe for orange bread takes only about three oranges, plus all of your standard baking supplies and ingredients. Below is the breakdown and the instructions in video form, as well as the written instructions below that. This video can be found on the You Tube channel, At Home.
Orange Bread Recipe
Ingredients
Cake
* 1 3/4 cups All-Purpose flour
* 1 tsp baking powder
* 1/2 baking soda
* 1/4 tsp salt
* 1 stick butter or margarine
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 2 eggs
* 1/2 cup milk
* About 1-2 Tbsp orange zest
* 1/4 cup orange juice
Glaze
* 1/2-3/4 cup powdered sugar
* 3 Tbsp orange juice
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a loaf pan and set aside.
2. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and blend until combined.
3. Add eggs and mix until combined
4. Add milk and mix until combined
5. Add orange zest and 1/4 cup orange juice. Mix until combined and smooth.
6. Pour batter into greased loaf pan. Bake until top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. I generally start at 55 minutes and add 2 minute increments if need to cook more.
7. Allow bread to cool in pan for about 5 minutes. Once cool, remove and set on a cooling rack.
8. Prepare glaze by combining powdered sugar and 4-6 tsp orange juice. Stir until desired consistency. If glaze is too thin, add more powdered sugar, but do not go more than 3/4 cup.
9. Pour glaze over bread. Allow to set. Serve and Enjoy!!
