Squish Jigs by Savage Gear Dominate the Bluefin Tuna Scene
Squish Jigs by Savage Gear have been dominating the local tuna scene. The Bluefin Tuna fishing off of the coast of Southern California has been incredible for the past few years. Heck, I’d say seasons, but it seems as if the fish have never left. The fish seem to be circulating around our local banks and islands. I’ve heard fisherman say that these are the years that we will look back on ten to twenty years from now and say, “those were the days.” And I don’t disagree. The bait that has really been getting these fish going is the Savage Gear Squish Jig. Half Squid, Half Fish, these little…

Have you tried Da Rae Korean Restaurant in Fullerton?
For all of my SoCal friends who like to get out and try new food excursions, take a look at Da Rae Korean Restaurant in Fullerton. If you enjoy Bibimbap, and I do, this place is definitely worth a look. Tucked away in a little strip mall on the corner of Yorba Linda Blvd and N. Placentia Ave in Fullerton, it may be a little hard to find. Not really difficult as it is in the Target shopping center, but tucked back behind a bigger Japanese restaurant. The restaurant itself isn’t very big. They had maybe a dozen or so tables. There was a sign in sheet on the door…

Savage Gear Suicide Duck at Lake El Salto Mexico
Last year I had the opportunity to get down to Lake El Salto to shoot some Suicide Duck footage with Shea from Stoked On Fishing and FLW and Okuma Pro Todd Kline. This was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I have been down to the lake several times and it is one of my top bass fishing destinations. It is still pretty rugged, but an experience like no other. First of all, our trip started off great. Flights were on time, food was good, and the ride to the lake was uneventful. Raul picked us up at the Mazatlan airport, and off we went. We were greeted at the…

New Savage Gear High Rider Float Tubes
I recently had the opportunity to get out and test one of the new Savage Gear High Rider float tubes. In short, fantastic ride! These things are built to last. Strong, well constructed, and durable, with a well thought out layout. Let me start out by saying that i have had many float tubes over the years. My wife can attest, as they are or have been all around our garage, and even have fallen on our cars. I, like most float tube anglers, have moved over to the U-shaped float tubes. They are just easier to get in and out of, and I find a little easier to…

Steelhead Fishing the PNW
I had a really incredible chance to get up to Washington to fish with Cameron Black of Fishing Addicts Northwest. The weather has been very dry up his way, and the rivers were very low. Cameron called a couple of days before and asked if we’d be opposed to doing a drift trip on the skinny water in his inflatable. He mentioned we’d have to get out and pull the boat over rocks and around trees in a few spots, but the fish were there. I thought it sounded like a pretty incredible opportunity, so we took it. Okuma VP Sam Brenner, and I drove down from Seattle and met…

Prado Running Gun
As the holidays pass, and the thermometer has finally dropped back into the normal range, a lot of people feel that their outdoor activity options are limited. For fisherman, you might be out throwing big baits at big fish. If you are a gun guy like myself, you might be getting a little tired of heading to the range to shoot at static paper targets week after week. If so, this is a great time to get involved with some fun match shooting with a club at a local range like Prado Olympic Shooting Park. I’ve been shooting for what seems my entire life. Over the past couple of years, I…

Kicking off the new blog
Very excited to kick off the new blog. I am lucky enough to travel the country for business and come across some pretty incredible sights. Some of them are truly spectacular and filled with beauty. Some spectacularly awful. I’ll do my best to keep my blogs light and fun.
