Great Shakes- An Oasis for Dessert in the Desert
Great Shakes Every year, my in laws rent a couple of villas at one of the Westin Resorts in the Palm Springs Area. Multiple units, multiple families. Its a blast! One thing my wife and I like to do is hit our favorite little snack stop, Great Shakes. Located in the heart of Palm Springs on Palm Canyon Drive, Great Shakes is a must do stop when in the area. There are plenty of splurge-worthy ice cream stops in Palm Springs, but no other is as splurge-worthy as Great Shakes. Since 2013 when it opened, this has been a must stop of ours year after year. And this year, it…

Shaquille’s Restaurant- LA Live
If you are looking for a hip new restaurant when you are up at LA Live, look no further than Shaquille’s Restaurant. Shaquille’s is self labeled as an upscale casual restaurant specializing in southern cuisine. And with a feature of Shaquille O’Neal’s own signature fried chicken, the restaurant focuses on farm fresh fare. The Atmosphere When you walk into Shaquille’s, you get a feeling of an upscale restaurant. With a high end feel, and a swift friendly greeting front one of the multiple hostesses, we felt quite welcome. A look off to the right and you see the bar area with a wide variety of liquor on the shelves. Just…

Fuoco Authentic Napoletana Pizzeria in Fullerton
Truly Authentic Italian Pizza Fuoco Pizzeria Napoletana brings you truly authentic Italian pizza directly from Naples Italy where pizza was created. With a family filled with true Pizzaiolos, or pizza makers, you are bound to get a delicious meal. The Restaurant Fuoco Pizzeria is steeped in three generations of Pizzaiolos. They are very proud of their Napoli heritage as evidenced by the numerous news clippings, jerseys and other fun items that line the entrance hallway from the parking lot. Once you pass through the hallway you get into a nice and open dining room. There are spacious booths that line the brick walls and lots of tables in…

Hip and Trendy- Check out Salt & Ash Restaurant Placentia
Looking for a hip new spot with very creative food in North Orange County? If so, be sure to check out Salt & Ash in Placentia. Karie and I were browsing through Yelp looking for a new spot to try out, and happened upon Salt & Ash. After driving by this place for some time now, and telling ourselves we need to try it, we finally did. Though I think Karie and I had different views of the place, I think overall, it is certainly worth a try. The restaurant reminds me of something I might find up in Portland. Hip, cool and trendy. It appeared to be a well-appointed…

Rich Farm- Life Changing Ice Cream in Orange County
About a year ago, Karie and I were craving some good ice cream. We did a few searches and came up with the standard chain parlors. A friend had mentioned that they found a little place in Placentia, CA which is not too far from home. They told us about a little place called Rich Farm Ice Cream. Holy Cow! (pun intended) This place was life changing. I don’t know what it is exactly about Rich Farm, but I can tell you that this is the smoothest, creamiest ice cream that I have ever eaten. The place is truly amazing! I always thought happy cows came from California, but apparently…

Sister Sicily Pizza & Pasta
As most residents of Yorba Linda know, finding a great little restaurant is not the easiest of tasks. My wife and I were craving some good pasta and were on the hunt. We were doing some Yelp searches and happened upon Sister Sicily Pizza & Pasta on Yorba Linda Boulevard in Yorba Linda California. What a great little find this turned out to be. Sister Sicily Pizza & Pasta is a very small sit down restaurant found right in the Stater Brothers shopping center on the corner of Lakeview and Yorba Linda Blvd. With the option of Japanese, Chinese, Poke, as well as a Mc Donalds and Panda Express, this…

Have you tried Da Rae Korean Restaurant in Fullerton?
For all of my SoCal friends who like to get out and try new food excursions, take a look at Da Rae Korean Restaurant in Fullerton. If you enjoy Bibimbap, and I do, this place is definitely worth a look. Tucked away in a little strip mall on the corner of Yorba Linda Blvd and N. Placentia Ave in Fullerton, it may be a little hard to find. Not really difficult as it is in the Target shopping center, but tucked back behind a bigger Japanese restaurant. The restaurant itself isn’t very big. They had maybe a dozen or so tables. There was a sign in sheet on the door…
