Catch More Fish With The FishLab Bio-Minnow
Long Beach Breakwall
The Long Beach Breakwall is a magical place. It is a long, permanent structure that creates incredible habitat for big, hungry bass. Calico Bass, Sand Bass and Spotted Bay Bass call the Long Beach Breakwall home. And throwing the right bait, like the FishLab Bio-Minnow Swimbaits, make the world of difference.
Fishing the wall can be an incredible experience. Either live bait or artificial lures work awesome on the wall. Personally, I love to fish the wall at night. Night time is the right time when it comes to wall fishing. Of course, the wall fishes great during the day too. The key is getting out and doing it.
Modes of Transportation
Hitting the wall is pretty easy. You just need some sort of transportation to get out there. A boat or skiff is usually the easiest as you can zip around to different spots easily and quickly. When I have the opportunity, the skiff is the way to go. Lately I have been fishing the wall on my Riot Mako 12 Kayak more and more.
With the Kayak, I’ll launch from Cabrillo Launch Ramp and pedal my way out and down the wall. On the kayak you can get nice and tight to the wall, working all of the key crevices. And there is something about being one with nature as it is just you and the water. But the key to the whole experience is getting out there.
The Baits- FishLab Bio-Minnow
When fishing at night, I have several go-to baits that I like to throw. During the day, I have one preference, the FishLab Bio-Minnow Swimbaits.
These baits are pretty awesome. They have so much subtle movement on the fall, and an incredible kick on the slow retrieve. I’ll fish them weedless with a ZMan weedless Eye Jighead and let them drop down, and slowly work them back to the kayak. I love those jigheads! The Bio-Minnow come in multiple sizes, but for the wall, i like the two smaller versions.
Here is a quick video for my last wall run. No big fish this trip, but plenty of bites to be had.
The FishLab Bio-Minnow is really a bait you should check out. Well, if you want to catch a lot of fish anyway!
