NEW Okuma Cedros Spinning Reels – First Look
New Cedros Spinning by Okuma
At last years ICAST in Orlando, Okuma introduced the new generation Cedros Spinning reels. These updated reels are awesome. At the 2019 Icast, Okuma introduced an 8,000, 10,000 and 14,000 size spinning reel. At this years 2020 Virtual ICAST, Okuma introduced the 4,000 and 6,000 size reels for the inshore fisherman.
All New Cedros
The new Okuma Cedros is more than just a color change. It has gone through an entire upgrade from bottom to top, with a couple of key features that really stand out.
First off, this reel is light. If you are to compare the CJ-8000 to the Azores 8000 size reel, the Cedros is about 3oz lighter in weight. That is huge with all day casting.
The reel also features a water-tight drag system. It is not a completely waterproof system, but a system that keeps water from getting into your new reel.
The new generation Cedros features a Mag/Alloy body that gives it the strength of an aluminum reel. It also has a screw-in, aluminum handle arm for extra strength and rigidity.

Conclusion
These new Spinning Reels are awesome. These reels are well built and nearly bullet proof. In the time I have been fishing them, we’ve whacked a few monster yellowfin and bluefin on the top water poppers. Just wish I had video of that.
