Cerros Bass Rods by Okuma- First Look
Okuma is hitting the bass market hard for 2020 and the new Cerros Technique Specific Bass Rods are awesome!
The New Cerros Rods
These new Cerros Rods by Okuma are a well built, incredibly priced series of rods that just may fill every anglers arsenal.
The series consists of 13 total models of which 3 are spinning and 10 are casting models. These are very light weight rods with an Extra Fast taper.
The Blank
Each of the rods starts with a 24-ton carbon blank construction. They are very sensitive to the touch, responsive and durable with a very nice backbone for hard hook sets.
That 24-ton carbon blank design also features Okuma’s UFR- Ultimate Flex Reinforcement technology. What this is, is about the top 1/3 of the rod blank contains unilateral fibers rather than spiral fibers giving it the ultimate in strength for those that like to lift or bounce fish.
The Butt Section
The other end of the rod is the Butt section which is built with a 3K woven carbon section that improves hoop strength. These rods are stout and well built. The but section is also a split butt design lightening the weight and featuring a contoured EVA grip for the ultimate in comfort.
The Reel Seat
The reel seat on the Cerros rods is a skeleton design seat with exposed rod blank so that your fingers will rest directly on the blank so that you can feel each tick and bump on your line. These light weight reel seats feature a screw down, minimalistic foregrip.
The Guides
Okuma’s new Cerros rods have a great guide system as well. They are built with Sea Guide Xo 316-SS angled guide frames. These stainless steel frames are built to withstand the rigors of fishing braided line and and angled forward to reduce line twist.
Each of those Sea Guide XO frames contain Zirconium line guide inserts for the ultimate in reduced line abrasion.

Here is a video that I put together walking through each component of the Cerros rods.
Cerros Conclusion
Overall, I really like these rods. The new Cerros rods are well built and very light. Another great aspect of the rods is that they start at only $79.99. That is crazy good!
I am definitely looking forward to adding these into the arsenal. Be it fishing from the bass boat or from the kayak, this series could be exactly what you are looking for.
