The sleek new look and design of the Helios SX is packed with upgrades keeping anglers on the water longer.  Along with all of the new upgrades are the design features that you came to know and enjoy like the all aluminum side plates, frame and spool giving it an ultra light, 6.3 ounce total weight.

The new Helios SX has a total of 11 ball bearings including ABEC-5 Japanese spool bearings giving this reel a very smooth and stable platform for all day casting.

The Helios SX packs all of its new technology into three distinct gear ratios. A 6.6:1, 7.3:1 and an ultra fast 8.1:1 gear ratio are available in right hand and a 7.3:1 gear ratio is available in left hand retrieve.

The Upgrades

The Helios SX features a few new key upgrades.  The first item that stands out right away is the new carbon handle design.  This new handle design features an elongated throw that allows you the get a better cranking feel on your reels.  The new handle comes in at a cool 100mm in length which is 10mm longer than the existing handle and gives you a better feel and more cranking power when on the water.

A key improvement is the internal breaking system that now resides within the Helios body.  This new and improved 12-point adjustable velocity control system will keep you dialed in and backlash free.  These are easy to adjust pins that slide in and out making very fine tune adjustments easily at hand and are still hidden within the click down side plate.

Another new feature is the friction free disengaging spool shaft system allowing for ultra long, smooth casting.  This new feature really improves your overall distance in casting.  That combined with the new velocity control, and you have a top end casting system.

The Breakdown

In the following video I give an inside look at the Helios SX and walk you through each of the new features.
